I know where a patch of wild garlic is and with the recent rains it will be easy to dig. I will leave as soon as I finish coffee and breakfast. I will be processing it for a few days into garlic butter. I'll mince some to freeze and dehydrate some for garlic powder. um, umh good!
SEPTEMBER 13th. It's time to put up juice from the wild mustang grapes that grow along Red River. I'll be there with bells on. The first two weeks in September are the best for gathering mustangs for juice. The grapes are fully ripe and very tasty. It's hard to keep them out of your mouth but after your lips begin to turn red and burn it's not so hard. I make juice like the "Old Timers" made. Put a cup of washed and stemmed grapes in a quart jar, add a cup of sugar and fill beaming full of boiling water. Seal the jars and wait as long as you can. Guaranteed Good!
