The fire had destroyed all of my drawings and sketches. I made new drawings of all my commercial designs and then I got down to some serious building. I created some new display pieces that I called caricatures. I attained a level of perfection in my designing and in my constructing; made possible only by the destroying
of my work and drawings by the fire. I perfected my dogwood hoop designs and created many unique pieces of furniture. My dogwood hoop furniture was reborn into perfection. My God given designing abilities are serving me well; so also are my building talents.
My furniture, incorporating dogwood hoops has all the qualities needed to become the heirlooms of the future. It is rock-solid strong, beautiful for the eye to behold and has backs and seats that are curved to the human form making it comfortable to sit in. In 1998, I won the Texas Forestry Association's, "Award of Merit for Architectural Excellence in Wood Design," for my twig Nanny Rocker. I became the "Stick Art Man." After reading about artificers that the king hired to work on the temple in Genesis 4:22 and Isaiah 3:3, I looked up the meaning of the word. The word artificer means a highly skilled craftsman clever in devising and making things. I figured I had earned the name. The Texas Forestry Association's award, led to a commission from one of the Nation's most famous retailers. Rattan designs for their "Art of Fashion" promotion, in the spring of 2002, went into their mainland stores as well as their stores in Hawaii, London England and Paris France.
After the job was finished I retired from twig designing. You will discover why, when you read THE PUBLISHED AUTHOR; but for now content yourself by looking at a few twig designs that I created over the years in the STICK ART PHOTO JOURNAL.
